How one bridal bouquet grew into Freesi Living – a warm-hearted partner for celebrations and a growing company

The first customer was a future bride who needed a bridal bouquet. That was the beginning of Maria Rissanen's journey, which over the years has moved from flower bouquets to the center of events, dining tables, and banquet halls. Today, Maria leads Freesi Living – a growing company that makes celebrations easy, warm, and unforgettable.

Freesi Living is not just a catering service. It is a partner that considers every detail of the celebration: catering, venues, decorations, performers, and atmosphere. Our task is to ensure that you can focus on what matters – people and the moment.

Entrepreneurship grown alongside celebrations

Maria is a long-time professional who has accumulated experience in both the restaurant and flower industries as well as in interior design. She has graduated as a student, waitress, gardener, business administrator, and interior designer – not only educated but also worked with her hands in the dirt, in the kitchen, at the cash register, and at event venues.

Founded in 2008, Kukkapalvelu Freesi continued as Kukka- ja juhlapalvelu Freesinä, and finally in 2019 Freesi Living Oy was born. Over the years, the customer base has grown, the team has strengthened, and the service has expanded to cover:
Family celebrations: weddings, birthdays, confirmations, christenings, memorial services, and other events
Corporate events: catering, staff, programs, decorations, tents – if necessary, the whole package

Celebrations arise from genuine situations

Maria does not believe in perfect celebrations – she believes in celebrations that feel right. Her work combines warm presence, humor, care, and an unwavering attitude.

Freesi Living stands out from the crowd because here, we do not just serve sandwiches on the table. There is a feeling that you and your guests are being taken care of.

However, entrepreneurship has not been all about celebrations – nor should it be. There have been moments of rush and chaos, such as when a saucy salad spilled on the front seat of the car directly onto the menu sign just before a wedding gig. A new menu was printed, but the reminder remained: haste must not replace common sense. We learn from these moments – and grow.

A growing network and active influence

Maria has served on the boards of the Entrepreneurial Women of Helsinki and Vantaa, as an event coordinator, and is the chairperson of her own housing company's board. She builds relationships, supports others, and advances her field – not with speeches but with actions.

Freesi Café & TV's Diili – life behind the scenes

In spring 2025, Freesi Café Otaniemi became part of national visibility when the competitors of the TV show Diili stayed at Noli House and Freesi Café served as their breakfast partner. Participants enjoyed the cozy café and praised the breakfasts profusely – the thanks also lived on outside the scenes.
